Proposed 2019 Budget Adds Swift Green Line, More Transit Police

Snohomish County, Wash. – Community Transit is expanding service to build a high capacity transit network to meet the demand for reliable public transportation in Snohomish County. In spring 2019, the agency will launch its second bus rapid transit route, the Swift Green Line, creating a network of 10-minute bus service throughout south Snohomish County
Community Transit’s Proposed 2019 Budget projects an 7.9 percent increase in sales tax revenue over 2018 while expenditures will increase 13.5 percent. The budget proposal assumes operating expenses of $161 million and capital expenses of $33.5 million for new projects

Local Bus, DART Paratransit Fares Rising 25 Cents on Oct. 1
Commuter bus fares to King County simplified; no more zones
Snohomish County, Wash. – On Oct. 1, Community Transit’s local bus and DART paratransit fares will increase by 25 cents. Vanpool fares will also increase by an average of 3 percent, or about $14 a van per month
Commuter bus riders into King County will also see some changes, but not fare increases. The distance-based, or zone fare categories will be eliminated, so all King County commuters will pay the same fare. Also, all riders on commuter routes (400 or 800 series routes) will pay the commuter fare even if they are only traveling within Snohomish County. Previously, a rider could pay a local fare on a commuter route if their entire trip was within Snohomish County.

Snohomish County, Wash. – Community Transit will be at several job fairs in the next month to recruit new bus drivers, mechanics, marketers, planners and other positions. The Snohomish County transit agency’s continued service expansion is creating dozens of good-paying jobs
